NPO 044: Self-care, check-in, pandemic times (Molly MacCready, CROSO)

Lessons Learned:
In this episode, Molly shares her experiences over the past 18 months — pandemic life, having a baby, and now leaning into a new work schedule that is nontraditional but supports her needs and those of her family.

Some self-care check-in questions from Molly:

For your physical health:

  • when’s the last time you went to see a doctor?

  • A dentist?

  • Do you need to see a physical therapist?

  • How old is your prescription for your contacts/glasses?

  • Do you need to see a chiropractor?

  • Are you getting enough exercise?

  • Do you play on a recreational sports team?

  • Do you go for runs or walks regularly?

For your emotional/mental health:

  • Do you meet with a therapist regularly?

  • Do you have a coach or counselor that provides some support to you?

  • Do you belong to any affinity groups that provide space for you to share your experiences, or hear other’s share their experiences? Is there a space for you to get/give some feedback?

  • When’s the last time you went on a retreat?

  • Or spent a weekend (or in COVID times at least a Zoom call) with your closest college friends? Or growing-up friends? Or neighbors?

  • Do you belong to a faith sharing group?

  • Or do you have a standing wine and cheese night with friends? Or a group that you regularly grab a beer with?

  • When’s the last time you read a good book?

  • Are you incorporating meditation into your life?

  • Do you make space for silence in your life?

  • Do you pray?
